THe only thing I would do is shoot vertical and crop tighter. I find the upper right corner of the doorway a little distracting.

This shot was shot vertical (hence the narrow framing). I suppose if you only look at the preview and not the full size image then you would get the impression it was shot in landscape.

I agree that the bright spot in the door way leads the eye away from the subject.
